Gold Nanoparticles Storage and Handling

Storage:

Store product away from direct sunlight at 4-25 °C. Recommend to store in refrigerator at 4-7 °C. Lower temperature prolongs the shelf life of the product. Do NOT freeze. When stored as specified the colloidal gold is stable for at least 6 months.

Handling:

When stored for a long period of time the gold nanoparticles might sediment at the bottle of the vial, which is especially common for larger particle sizes (60-100 nm). Under such conditions, re-suspend the sedimented particles by gently swirling until a homogenous solution is obtained before use.

Purification:

It is not necessary to purify the gold nanoparticles before use. If purification is needed, the easiest way to remove possible impurities in the solution is by centrifugation. Centrifugation force is dependant on size of the gold nanoparticles and should be adjusted accordingly.

Purification procedures:

1, Place collodial gold nanoparticles in an appropriate centrifuge tube.

2, Under the indicated g force with specific size, centrifuge 30 min.

3, Remove supernatant and redisperse in desired volume of pure water.

4, Vortex and make it homogeneous.

5, Repeat 1 to 5 if additional purification necessary.
